J, freelance web designer and founder of DayThree Studio, Singapore

One person, from the first call to launch.

Hi, I'm J. I run DayThree Studio on my own, so you deal with me directly, so there's no account manager in between.

Before this, I spent six years at a marketing agency and spoke to more than 1,000 business owners. More often than not, their ads were doing fine but their website conversion wasn't. The agency would then ask the business owner to create another landing page just to run ads.

And the business owners themselves were shocked. They had already spent money to build a website, and now they needed another budget for a landing page.

A lot of the business owners I spoke to had also been burnt by marketing. Their agency didn't do up a landing page. They just ran ads traffic to the website and didn't set up proper tracking, so the reports showed “fake” metrics like cost per click and impressions. These two metrics don't do anything to help the business owner get enquiries.

In my personal opinion, unless your business has a very narrow and niche group of customers, your website can usually double up as a landing page and still achieve a high conversion rate.

I also observed many business owners start their business with a simple, brochure-looking website, which makes their ads spending less effective later on. So I figured out the best way to help them is to solve it right from the start.

When I started DayThree Studio on my own, I was worried that I might not get the same trust and recognition as my ex-agency, which had built a long history of reputation. But I'm confident that my skill set can really help and value-add to business owners. I took a few design courses back in university, and they still come in handy.

On top of the website, I also built DayThree CRM so that my clients could get instant alerts when enquiries come in and also having an AI assistant to help them to book appointments.

Outside of work, I like taking walks in nature and hiking.
